FM Peres meets with Rev. Jesse Jackson

At an early morning meeting held today, July 28, Foreign Minister Shimon Peres informed Rev. Jesse Jackson that Israel is doing everything possible to help the Palestinians in the humanitarian realm and is open to ideas on this subject.

The Foreign Minister noted that only when the Palestinian Authority will begin to take action against terrorism will it be possible to renew political negotiations. Israel is nevertheless making every effort to improve the economic situation of the Palestinian population. Foreign Minister Peres concluded by stating his firm belief that the Israeli government is striving to achieve peace.
