IDF Humanitarian Assistance to the Palestinians
(Communicated by the IDF Spokesman)

The IDF is continuing its policy of supplying humanitarian aid and providing food and assistance to the Palestinian population as part of its recent activity and that of the Coordinator of Government Activity in the Territories.

As part of this policy, on Thursday afternoon (April 4) the IDF distributed to the Palestinian Authority offices in Arafat’s compound in Ramallah food, hygienic and first aid items including pita bread, sugar, fruits, vegetables, cleaning materials and bandages.

In addition, the curfew on Kalkiliya was lifted between the hours of 09:00-14:00 and two truckloads of food entered the city.

The IDF also evacuated a wounded Palestinian from the area of the village of Jami’in, near Tulkarm, to a hospital in Kalkiliya for medical treatment.

The IDF Spokesperson would like to emphasize that these acts provide additional testimony to the fact that despite the heavy fighting conditions in the area, the IDF – lead by its combat soldiers – continues its humanitarian polity of giving continuous aid to the Palestinian population. These acts stand in clear contrast to the false picture presented by the Palestinian Authority and its leaders in the media.

Lifting of the Curfew on Ramallah

(Communicated by the IDF Spokesperson) The IDF lifted the curfew on Ramallah, Al Bira and Betunia for a few hours to enable the local population to obtain essential supplies. To facilitate this task, the IDF authorized the entry into Ramallah of trucks carrying supplies.

Today, the IDF permitted the entry of a physician and Red Cross representatives into the offices of Chairman Arafat in the Mukata’a compound to administer medical care.

The IDF continues in its efforts to provide assistance to the Palestinian civilian population which is not involved in terrorism.

Removal of the curfew on Tulkarem and Bethlehem to enable the population to obtain essential supplies

The IDF lifted the curfew on Tulkarem between 04:00-11:00 this morning to enable the city’s population to obtain essential supplies.

In addition, since quantities of bread were inadequate to meet the needs of the hospital in the city, special permission was given to open a bakery to bake bread for the hospital. The bread will subsequently be given to the IDF for delivery to the hospital.

Likewise, the curfew on different neighborhoods of Bethlehem will be lifted at 13:00 for a duration of 4 hours in each neighborhood to enable the population to equip themselves with essential supplies.

The IDF is making every effort to allow humanitarian aid and to provide assistance to the Palestinian population which is not involved in terrorism.
