IDF Soldier Killed in Jenin and Summary of IDF Operations Overnight

An IDF soldier, Staff Sgt. Gedalyahu Malik, aged 21 from Jerusalem, was killed last evening during a military operation in the Jenin refugee camp. In addition, one soldier was moderately wounded and 11 were slightly injured. All have been taken to hospital for medical treatment. During searches carried out by an IDF force in a building in the refugee camp, Palestinians opened fire at the soldiers, triggering the explosion of a grenade that caused the death of one IDF soldier and the injuries to the others.

IDF forces continue to operate in the cities of Jenin, Nablus, Ramallah, Bethlehem, and in several villages in Judea and Samaria.

IDF forces have continued their encirclement of Kalkilya and Tulkarem following their withdrawal from these cities.

As part of IDF operations in the Jenin refugee camp, IDF combat engineers have razed buildings in the refugee camp used as cover by terrorists to fire at Israeli forces.

This evening, IDF forces continued its operations in the village of Dura and have carried out searches and arrests in the village of Yata, south of Hebron. In the early morning hours, IDF forces began operating in the village of Samu’a, south of Hebron.

In the village Hizma south of Ramallah, a force of the Israeli Border Police apprehended an individual suspected of hostile terrorist activities.

IDF forces completed their mission in the area of Arura, north of Ramallah.
