Joint Communique concerning the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Government of the State of Israel and the Government of East Timor

The Government of the State of Israel and the Government of East Timor, guided by the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1963, desirous to promote and strengthen ties of freindship and cooperation between their countries and peoples, on the basis of equality, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of one another, have decided to establish diplomatic relations at Ambassadorial level as of today (20 May 2002).

The practical aspects of this decision, including the accreditation of Ambassadors, will be pursued through diplomatic channels.
