FM Shalom meets with US Envoy Ambassador John Wolf-July 8- 2003

FM Silvan Shalom and US Envoy
John Wolf (July 8, 2003)

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Silvan Shalom met this morning (8 July) with US Presidential Envoy Mr. John Wolf. At their meeting, Minister Shalom briefed his guest on his meeting yesterday with Palestinian Information Minister Nabil Amr.

Mr. Shalom stressed the importance of the Palestinians’ taking advantage of the present window of opportunity to achieve peace in the Middle East. He added that, while a decline has been noted in the level of incitement, it is still necessary to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure. "Israel has fulfilled its part of the understanding reached with the Palestinians," Shalom stated. "We have left Gaza and Bethlehem, released prisoners, issued work permits for laborers. We now expect the Palestinians to take decisive action to implement the measures required of them in the Road Map."
