Foreign Minister Shalom to Visit Italy

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom will depart tomorrow (July 10) for a working visit to Italy, which is serving as the current President of the European Union.

In the course of his visit to Italy, Minister Shalom will meet with Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Foreign Minister Franco Frattini, President of the Italian Senate Marcello Pera, President of the Italian Parliament Pier Ferdinando Casini, Secretary-General of the Democratici Di Sinistra party Piero Fassino and heads of the Jewish community.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Shalom will hold discussions with his counterparts on bilateral issues, and will provide them with updates on the political process in the region. In addition, the parties will discuss Israel’s relations with the EU under the Italian presidency.

The relations between Israel and Italy are very friendly, reflected through cooperation in many areas.
