Response to Antisemitic Speech by Malaysian PM Mahathir at the OIC Summit
(Communicated by the Foreign Minister’s Bureau)

It is a shame that in the course of a speech ostensibly dedicated to solving problems in the Moslem world in the 21st century, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad could not restrain himself from resurrecting vile invectives, innuendos and outright lies taken straight from classic antisemitic propaganda.

The civilized world has seen the results of such violent rhetoric in the past.

In this regard, Prime Minister Mahathir’s reference to the Holocaust was a desecration of the memory of six million innocent victims of antisemitism. His speech brought no honor to himself or to those in attendance at the Organization of Islamic Conferences Summit.

We call on right-thinking people and countries, both in the Moslem world and outside it, to utterly condemn the invocation of the saem antisemitic ideas which led to the worst case of mass murder in human history.
