Summary of Terror Attacks Recently Thwarted by Security Services

In the last month, since May 11, security forces arrested 20 terrorists who intended to carry out suicide bombings. Of them, some 10 suicide bombers were arrested since the Aqaba summit on June 4.

Among those arrested:

On May 31, Jamil Par’on, a Tanzim terrorist from Azzariya, outside Jerusalem, who served as the bodyguard of the Chairman of the Palestinian Legislative Council Ahmed Queria (Abu Ala) was arrested. Paron was recruited to carry out a suicide bombing by the Tanzim in Ramallah, under the direction of Ali Aliyan.

On June 4, Sami Mansur and Mohamed Masri, members of the Tanzim from Nablus, who had taken refuge in the Moukata compound in Ramallah were arrested.

On the same day, Asra Abu Halil, from Atil, was arrested as she was about to carry out a suicide attack to avenge the death of her brother.

Since September 2000, 243 Israelis have been murdered and more than 1,400 were wounded as a result of terrorist suicide bombings carried out by the Hamas. Since September 2000 a total amount of 287 Israeli civilians were murdered, and more than 1,800 injured as a result of all terrorist activities carried out by the Hamas.

A Chronology of Terrorist Attacks Carried out by Hamas:

  • June 11, 2003: A suicide bomber blows himself up on the #14A bus in Jerusalem. 16 Israelis are killed and over 100 wounded.
  • May 19, 2003: A Hamas terrorist on a bicycle blows himself up next to a military jeep in Kfar Darom (Gaza Strip). Three soldiers are wounded.
  • May 18, 2003: A suicide bomber, with an explosives filled bag, blows himself up near the A-Ram Junction in Jerusalem.
  • May 18, 2003: A suicide bomber wearing an explosive blows himself up on a bus at the French Hill Junction in Jerusalem. Seven Israelis are killed and 20 were wounded.
  • May 17, 2003: A suicide bomber dressed as a religious Jew, wearing an explosive belt, blows himself up in Hebron’s Gross Square, killing two Israeli civilians.
  • April 30, 2003: A suicide bomber detonates an explosive belt at the entrance to a pub on the Tel Aviv boardwalk. Three Israeli civilians are killed, and 62 are wounded.
  • March 5, 2003: A suicide bomber blows himself up on the #37 bus in Haifa. 15 Israeli civilians are killed, and 42 are wounded.
