The Ministry of Foreign Affairs canceled a planned meeting with an official delegation of the Presbyterian Church following the meeting between the delegation and members of the Hizbullah terror organization.

(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to cancel a planned meeting with an official delegation of the Presbyterian Church. This decision follows the meeting that took place this week between this delegation and members of the Hizbullah terror organization – an organization responsible for the murder and mutilation of innocent civilians, Israelis and Americans, including the 1983 suicide bomb attack on U.S. peace-keeping forces in Beirut.

It is rather disturbing to read the statements of some members of this delegation praising Hizbullah and its activities, which clearly constitutes support of an organization defined by the U.S. State Department and the international community as part of the “A Team” of global terrorism. Under these circumstances we see no reason to conduct a dialogue with this delegation, which was even criticized by its own headquarters over its conduct of affairs.
