Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom met today with his Spanish counterpart, Miguel Moratinos, who expressed support for Israel’s acceptance in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which comprises the world’s most economically developed industrialized nations.

Foreign Minister Moratinos indicated that he would direct Spain’s representatives in the organization to further this effort.

Minister Shalom welcomed Spain’s decision, saying, “Membership in this organization will help further cooperation between Israel and its members in the fields of trade, industry, science, education, environmental quality, and more. Similarly, this will strengthen Israel’s position and help advance international investment in its economy.”
