(Communicated by the Foreign Minister’s Bureau)
In advance of a Euroleague board meeting scheduled to convene in Barcelona on March 30, Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom sent letters to five foreign ministers (Greece, Croatia, Spain, Italy, Germany), today (Sunday), 28 March 2004, asking them to help prevent the tranfer of the European Basketball League Final Four Tournament from Israel.
Shalom wrote that moving the games would "serve as a prize to terrorists who seek through violence to undermine our way of life" and as an "undeserved punishment to Tel Aviv and to Israel."
