Meeting between the Leaders of India and Pakistan

Israel welcomes the meeting between the leaders of India and Pakistan that took place on January 5, in the framework of the Summit of the South Asian countries in Islamabad. Israel also welcomes their decision to continue the adoption of confidence building measures and the normalization of relations between the two countries.

Israel has always supported the principle of direct negotiations, in order to achieve peace between the parties to the conflict.

Israel expresses its full support for the statements of the Indian Prime Minister regarding the necessity of putting an end to acts of hostility and terrorism, in order to facilitate the existence of a dialogue process.

Furthermore, Israel views positively the commitment of the President of Pakistan, in which he stated that he will not permit any territory under Pakistan’s control to be used to support terrorism in any manner.
