PM Sharon thanked his Canadian counterpart for his friendship for Israel and the Jewish people.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon today (Tuesday), 6 July, 2004, telephoned Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, congratulated him on his victory in the recent Canadian elections and wished him success in forming a new government. Prime Minister Sharon thanked his Canadian counterpart for his friendship for Israel and the Jewish people, and for the solidarity that the Canadian government has shown with Israel.  Prime Minister Sharon also congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Martin and the Canadian people on the occasion of Canada Day, and invited him to visit Israel.

The prime ministers also discussed the dangers of global terrorism, the disengagement plan and other issues.  The two men agreed to strengthen bilateral relations.
