Prime Minister Ariel Sharon this evening (Thursday), 28 October 2004, spoke with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak who phoned to congratulate him on passing the Disengagement Plan in the Knesset. Egyptian President Mubarak also thanked Prime Minister Sharon for Israel’s humanitarian gesture towards Yasser Arafat in allowing him to leave in order to seek medical treatment.
The Egyptian President said that dialogue between Egypt and Israel would continue and noted that Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abu Gheit would visit Israel in two weeks.
Prime Minister Sharon thanked Egyptian President Mubarak and said that he is determined to advance the Disengagement Plan. The Prime Minister added that both he and the Egyptian President were interested in promoting bilateral cooperation.
