Slovenia’s Foreign Minister to Visit Israel

The Foreign Minister of Slovenia, Dimitrij Rupel, will arrive tomorrow (18 February) for a two-day visit to Israel as a guest of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom.
During his trip, the visiting foreign minister will meet with Mr. Shalom and with the head of the opposition. Mr. Rupel will also visit Yad Vashem The Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority.
Israel and Slovenia established diplomatic relations in April 1992. Minister Rupel, who was also then serving as Slovenia’s foreign minister, signed the agreement. His current visit to Israel is expected to contribute to strengthening the relations between the two countries. Slovenia will join the European Union in May 2004.
