Mr. Javier Solana arrived in Israel for a two-day visit, which will focus on the situation in the region and the ability of the EU to contribute to advancing the diplomatic process.

Mr. Javier Solana, senior representative to the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy, and Secretary General of the European Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU, arrived in Israel on Wednesday night (July 21) for a two-day visit, as the guest of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Silvan Shalom.
During the visit, Mr. Solana will meet with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and with Foreign Minister Shalom.
The visit will focus on the situation in the region and the ability of the EU to contribute to advancing the diplomatic process in general, and the disengagement plan in particular. In addition, discussions will be held on the bilateral relations between Israel and Europe, with an emphasis on the common fight against terrorism.
