(Communicated by the Foreign Minister’s Bureau)
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom strongly condemned the terrorist shooting which occurred yesterday (4 August) in Shfaram. "This despicable attack is an attempt at harming the Druze community, which has bound its destiny with the State of Israel in a covenant of blood. It is also aimed against Shefaram, a model of co-existence – a city whose mayor, Orsen Yassin, is the only mayor in the Arab sector who annually celebrates Israel’s Independence Day."
Minister Shalom called upon the leaders of the Arab public to act to calm tensions and to avoid further agitation of the grassroots of the Arab community.
