(Communicated by the Prime Minister’s Media Adviser)
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon this evening (Monday), 10 October 05, telephoned Professor Robert J. Aumann and congratulated him on winning the 2005 Nobel Prize in Economics. The Prime Minister told him that he was very excited to hear that he had received the Prize, which is a source of great pride to the State of Israel and its citizens, and added that he was pleased to see that Professor Aumann had found common points among the principles of game theory and Jewish tradition.
Professor Aumann thanked Prime Minister Sharon and recalled their first meeting approximately 20 years ago when the latter served as Industry and Trade Minister. The Prime Minister said that remembered the meeting and recalled that in 2002 he had the honor of presenting Professor Aumann with the Israel Prize.
Prime Minister Sharon invited Professor Aumann to his office; the two men agreed to meet after the holidays.
