U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrives for a visit to Israel, as part of the first regional tour in her new position.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrives on Sunday (February 6) for a visit to Israel, as the guest of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom. The Secretary of State is visiting as part of the first regional tour in her new position.

Aside from her meeting with Foreign Minister Shalom, the  Secretary of State will also meet with President Moshe Katsav and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The visit is intended to utilize the present momentum in Israeli-Palestinian ties.
