The visa waiver agreement was signed in Sofia on June 11, 2006 during a state visit to Bulgaria by President Moshe Katsav.

The Governments of the State of Israel and the Republic of Bulgaria signed an areement on the waiver of visa requirement for their nationals in Sophia on June 11, 2006. The Agreement was signed in the presence of the presidents of both countries, the President of Israel Mr. Moshe Katzav and the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Georgi Parvanov, by the Ambassador of Israel in Bulgaria Abraham Sharon and by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Feim Chaoushev.

The visa waiver agreement between the State of Israel and the Republic of Bulgaria will enter into force three months after the parties notify each other that all internal legal procedures for the entry into force of the agreement have been complied with, thus ratifying the agreement.
