The international conference held at the Israel Foreign Ministry will discuss the dangers posed by MANPADS – Man Portable Air Defense Systems – for civilian aviation.

(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)

An international conference will be held in Israel on Wednesday and Thursday, 5-6 April, to discuss the dangers posed by MANPADS – Man Portable Air Defense Systems – for civilian aviation. Foreign and Defense Ministry experts from 25 countries, including the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China, Brazil and India, will participate in the conference, the first of its kind to be held in Israel.

The convening of the conference, with its broad range of participating states, is not a common event, as Israel has until now not been at the center of multilateral arms control activity, and is evidence of Israel’s increasing role in this field.

The conference will open at 13:00 with an address by Mr. Ron Prosor, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the Jerusalem Conference Room at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem.
