In the framework of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Israel and Spain, Israeli and Spanish writers, translators, publishers and critics will meet on 15-19 May 2006.

In the framework of events marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Spain, the Foreign Ministry Division for Cultural and Scientific Affairs, the Institute for the Translation of Hebrew Literature, the Cervantes Institute and the Catalan Institut Ramon Llull will, on 15-19 May 2006, sponsor a meeting between Israeli and Spanish writers, translators, publishers and critics at the Cervantes Institute in Tel Aviv.
On Monday, 15 May 2006 (17:00-18:30), the opening session will focus on "The Writer as Entertainer or Cultural Guru."
The Tuesday session (16 May 2006) will focus on "New Directions in Prose and Poetry in Spain and Israel."
The Wednesday sessions (17 May 2006) will take place at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and will focus on "Translated Literature in Spain and Israel" and "The Cultural Other – Literary Writing against in a Multi-National Background." Aharon Applefeld will conclude with a discussion on artists and the Holocaust.
Leading Spanish and Israeli literary figures, publishers and translators will attend.
