Israel expresses disappointment at the decision to move the last remaining embassy from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv.
(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)
The government of Israel is disappointed at the decision by the government of El Salvador to transfer its embassy from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. This step, particularly at this time, can contribute neither to peace, the war on terror and violence, nor the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, as the government of El Salvador claims, but rather will play into the hands of terrorist elements which oppose the implementation of the resolution, and who may view this move as an achievement.
United Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish people and the State of Israel, and nothing will alter our determined position on this.
