Prime Minister Ehud Olmert spoke this evening (Saturday), 20 May 2006, with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who telephoned to wish him well ahead of his trip to the US.

The Egyptian President updated the Prime Minister on the economic conference at Sharm e-Sheikh and on his meetings tomorrow with Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen, Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, and Vice Premier Shimon Peres. Egyptian President Mubarak invited Prime Minister Olmert to visit Egypt following his return from the US.

The Prime Minister thanked the Egyptian President for his good wishes and said that he would be pleased to visit him and continue working together to advance peace in the region.
