Turkish FM Gul and FM Shalom will sign a joint declaration on the rehabilitation of the Erez Industrial Zone.
(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)
The Foreign Minister of Turkey, Abdullah Gul, will visit Israel on January 5, as the guest of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom. This is Mr. Gul’s second visit to Israel in the space of a year.
The purpose of Mr. Gul’s visit is to sign a joint declaration with Foreign Minister Shalom relating to the rehabilitation of the Erez Industrial Zone. The declaration is an expression of Turkey’s readiness to support the peace process, through providing assistance to the development of the Palestinian economy, while utilizing the window of opportunity created by the Disengagement.
In the past year, there have been meetings between Turkish, Israeli and Palestinian entrepreneurs, under the banner "The Ankara Forum," with the intention of formulating a program of action for the business sector, in order to rehabilitate the Palestinian economy and contribute to regional stability. Turkish entrepreneurs supported by the Turkish government will be involved in the rehabilitation work at the Erez Industrial Zone.
