IDF Border Police and IDF forces completed the evacuation of the "Red House" in Hebron in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision.

The Judea region, in its entirety, is now being declared a closed military zone by the Judea and Samaria Regional Division Commander, Brig. Gen. Noam Tibon. Non-residents will be forbidden from entering the region. This decision seeks to prevent civil disorder throughout the Judea region.
This decision was made following the IDF Border Police and IDF forces evacuation of the "Red House" in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision. The IDF emphasizes that Border Police, Israeli Police and IDF forces, have received reinforcements under the direction of the GOC Central Command. Direct confrontation with Israeli civilians wil be dealt with by police only, and as little as possible by IDF soldiers. The IDF, Israeli Police and Border Police will take harsh measures against anyone who attempts to harm the security forces. Moreover security forces warned that no acts of civil disorder will be tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly.
During the next few hours families that were evacuated from the "Red House" will be allowed to enter it under police escort in order to retrieve any of their belonging that remained inside.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, today (Thursday), 4 December 2008, commends Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Public Security Minister Avi Dicter, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Gaby Ashkenazy, the security forces and the Israel Police for the quick and efficient evacuation of the ‘House of Contention’ in Hebron. The Prime Minister has made it clear that the Government will not allow any elements whatsoever to harm democracy and the rule of law, and added that any attempt by violent elements to attack the Palestinian population and cause unrest in Judea and Samaria will be met with a sharp and immediate response by the security establishment
