A delegation of about 60 Jewish student leaders, leading public affairs activists on campuses, and members of the Israel on Campus Coalition, is currently visiting the country in honor of Israel’s 60th anniversary.
During their visit, the students will participate in activities related to the core issues and participate in community work all over the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the delegation on Wednesday, 2 January 2008. The visitors will meet with Knesset members, attend a political briefing, participate in a dialogue on public affairs challenges facing Israel on US campuses and will meet with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tzipi Livni.
The delegation, which arrived in the country on the 27th of December and will stay until the 6th of January, symbolizes the strengthening of cooperation and solidarity of the ICC with Israel during the 60th anniversary year. In recent years, Jewish organizations in the US have marked Israel’s image in the academic sphere as an issue of extreme strategic importance. For this reason, the ICC was established as the umbrella organization of the 31 biggest Jewish organizations active on US campuses. The on-campus activities of the organizations and their inter-organizational cooperation have been noticeably on the increase ever since the establishment of the organization.
In parallel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the heads of the ICC on 3 January 2008 and hold a dialogue with senior MFA personnel regarding Israel and US campuses. The gusts will attend a luncheon with rectors and presidents of Israeli universities.
