While the right of the Jewish people to national self-determination is self-evident, Israel expects the Palestinian leadership to turn to its own people and to state in a very clear and concise manner that they indeed recognize the right of the Jewish people to their own state in their historic homeland.

Dep FM Ayalon on recognizing Israel as a Jewish state

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon

Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon explains Israel’s need for a clear Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish state.

Ayalon states that while the right of the Jewish people to national self-determination is self-evident, Israel expects the Palestinian leadership to turn to its own people and to state in a very clear and concise manner that they indeed recognize the right of the Jewish people to their own state in their historic homeland. Such a step is crucial for the continuation of the peace process and will be a signal by the Palestinian leadership that a two state solution is the end of their claims.
