Israel objects to distorted image of PM Netanyahu in official Egyptian press.

The Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yossi Gal, summoned Egyptian Ambassador to Israel Yasser Reda yesterday, to convey the Israeli government’s extreme displeasure over a distorted photo of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that appeared in the Egyptian paper, Al-Ahram Weekly, on 17 September. The Director General asked Ambassador Reda to communicate Israel’s objection to the Egyptian government, emphasizing the severity of the matter in light of the fact that the humiliating picture appeared in an official Egyptian publication.

At the meeting with the Egyptian ambassador, DG Gal also raised the topic of Egyptian television shows that were broadcast during the recent month of Ramadhan, in which Israel and Jews were depicted in a negative way. Ambassador Reda said that he would convey the message to Cairo.
