 FM Liberman updated on earthquake in Italy

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman met in the Foreign Minister situation room with Ministry personnel who are dealing with the earthquake crisis in Italy. The Foreign Minister heard a report of the situation in the field from the Israeli Ambassador and Consul in Italy and from the Ministry staff engaged in locating Israelis in the earthquake area and keeping in contact with their families since the early morning hours.

FM Liberman instructed the Ministry staff to extend every assistance to the Israeli students who survived the earthquake and to examine all possibilities to provide rapid solutions to the problems of Israeli citizens in the earthquake area.

Earlier FM Liberman spoke with his Italian counterpart Foreign Minister Franco Frattini and offered Israeli assistance in any way needed.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a letter to Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi, expressed his condolences over the loss of life and noted that Israel was ready to render such assistance as may be requested.
