President Shimon Peres meets with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, 18 Aug 2009

President Peres will, on Tuesday morning, 18 August 2009, leave on a state visit in Russia as the guest of Russian Federation, President Dmitry Medvedev. In a unique gesture, President Medvedev invited President Peres to his summer palace in Sochi where the former is spending his summer vacation. The two presidents will hold a working meeting during which they will discuss the strengthening of the strategic relations between Israel and Russia, Russia’s involvement in promoting regional peace, the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians and the Iranian nuclear issue.
In addition to his meeting with President Medvedev, President Peres will also hold a series of meetings with senior Russian government officials. He will also utilize his visit to widely disseminate information on Israel in the Russian and international media.
President Peres is due to return to Israel on Wednesday, 19 August 2009.
