One of the council members thanked the Deputy FM on behalf of Haiti for the assistance that Israel gave to Haiti after the recent disaster.

Today, Deputy Foreign Minister met with fifteen New York City Council members at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem. The delegation was led by Speaker of the New York Council, Christine Quinn.
The Deputy Foreign Minister briefed the delegation on issues relating to the region and beyond.
One of the council members, Mathieu Eugene – the city’s only Haitian-American politician, personally thanked the Deputy Foreign Minister on behalf of Haiti for all of the assistance that Israel gave to Haiti after the recent disaster.
The Deputy Foreign Minister told Mr. Eugene that Israel is still assisting in Haiti and has been asked to send a police delegation to assist in law-enforcement. Ayalon also told the delegation that Israel had just brought a Haitian child to Israel for a life-saving operation. The Deputy Foreign Minister suggested that Mr. Eugene and the delegation visit the child who is recuperating in hospital after a successful procedure.
