Today (Wednesday, 17th February), Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon met with members of the European Parliament delegation for Relations with Israel.

The Deputy Foreign Minister talked about the excellent bilateral relations Israel has with European nations. "Israel’s relations with Europe are excellent but there are some in Europe who allow the conflict to shape their relations with Israel," Ayalon said. "This is cutting off their nose to spite their face because they lose out on all the things that we have to offer each other."

"This also means that they will lose leverage here in the region because the Palestinians take them for granted and this does not encourage concessions. We would like Europe to isolate the conflict from our relations, just as the United States does. The linkage is not constructive and does not achieve anything"

The Deputy Foreign Minister also spoke about issues relating to the peace process, Iran and incitement in the Palestinian Authority.
