Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon met today (Tuesday, 5 January 2010) with the Attorney General of Great Britain, the Right Honorable Baroness Scotland of Asthal QC. During the meeting, Deputy FM Ayalon protested the arrest warrants issued against senior Israeli officials. The Deputy FM clarified the impossible situation regarding claims against senior Israeli officials and stated that "This will make it difficult for the two countries to maintain a normal relationship."

The British Attorney General spoke at length on this subject, and stated that she is aware of the importance of finding an urgent solution to this issue. She added that the British government is currently considering possible options to solve the problem.

Deputy FM Ayalon noted the grave significance of the escalation of operations by organizations hostile to Israel who exploit British law to attack Israel. He emphasized the absurdity of the fact that as the majority of Israeli citizens have served in the IDF, they will be unable to visit the United Kingdom, therefore damaging British interests as well.
