The two discussed bilateral cooperation and condemned recent antisemitic manifestations in Bulgaria.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Daniel Ayalon, met on Monday, 24 May, in Jerusalem with Bulgarian Member of Parliament Yane Yanev, Head of the Order, Lawfulness and Justice Party. Deputy FM Ayalon briefed Mr. Yanev on the current political situation in the region and the two discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Bulgaria and Israel. Furthermore, the two condemned the antisemitic statements made recently by the Bulgarian Ataka party and called for preventative measures to stop the spreading of this phenomenon.
Mr. Ayalon emphasized that Bulgarian-Israeli relations are important and will continue to develop, with cooperation in different areas. However, Israel will continue to condemn and to act against manifestations of antisemitism anywhere in the world.
Party Chairman Yanev said that the Order, Lawfulness and Justice Party strenuously and unequivocally objects to the new antisemitic trend gaining strength in Bulgaria and will continue to seek partners all over the world to overcome this negative phenomenon.
