Defense Minister Ehud Barak today (Monday), 5 July 2010, at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, met with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.

The two men discussed Palestinian Authority activity in preparing the Gaza Strip crossings for the expanded supply of civilian goods to Gaza, as decided upon by the Cabinet. Additionally, the issue of coordination on joint Israel-Palestinian Authority projects was also raised.

Defense Minister Barak and Palestinian Prime Minister Fayyad  discussed the continuation of security and economic coordination in Judea and Samaria between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. It was agreed to maintain the direct link between the Defense Ministry and Palestinian Prime Minister Fayyad’s office in order to increase coordination and provide a response on issues that require direct and rapid contact between the sides.
