FM Liberman called on the international community to take a more balanced stance towards Israel and the Palestinians.
(Communicated by the Foreign Minister’s Bureau)
On Wednesday morning (June 23) FM Liberman met with Gianfranco Fini, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. Liberman thanked Fini for his friendship towards Israel and for Italy’s support of Israel in the battle over Israel’s right to defend itself.
During the day, FM Liberman met with visiting Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann. Liberman noted the good relations existing between the two countries.
In his meetings with President Fini and Chancellor Faymann, FM Liberman stated that he sees no option other than renewing construction in Judea and Samaria once the building freeze expires, at the end of September. Liberman said that until now all demands for gestures have been directed at Israel and, although Israel has taken significant steps towards the Palestinians, the Palestinian side continues acting against Israel in the international arena and inciting hatred against Israel internally. Liberman called on the international community to take a more balanced stance – there should not be one standard for Israel and another standard for the rest of the countries in the world.
