FM Liberman: There is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Despite the crimes committed by the Hamas regime against Israeli citizens, Israel permits the transfer to Gaza of thousands of tons of supplies and equipment daily.
(Communicated by the Foreign Minister’s Bureau)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is following the course of the flotilla to Gaza.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman visited the MFA this afternoon (Friday, 28 May 2010), and was briefed on the situation. At 3 pm an assessment of the situation was made, together with the Navy, in anticipation of the arrival of the flotilla to Israeli territorial waters.
During his visit to the MFA situation room, FM Liberman stated that there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Despite the crimes committed by the Hamas regime against Israeli citizens and the launching of thousands of rockets at Israeli towns and settlements, Israel is acting in the most humane manner possible, permitting the transfer to Gaza of thousands of tons of supplies and equipment daily. According to FM Liberman, the flotilla is a violent attempt to provoke Israel. Israel will not permit any infringement of its sovereignty, on land, in the air and at sea.
