 FM Liberman to leave on official visit to Spain

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman is due to leave today (Wednesday, 21 April 2010) on an official visit to Spain.

FM Liberman will meet in Madrid with Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, Foreign Minister Miguel Ángel Moratinos, Chairman of the Foreign Committee of the Spanish Congress of Deputies Josep Antoni Duran i Lleida, President of the autonomous Community of Madrid Esperanza Aguirre, members of the Foreign Committee of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, the Jewish community  and members of the Israel-Spain Friendship Association.

Spain currently holds the presidency of the European Union, and FM Liberman will confer with his hosts on all open issues between Israel and the EU, including the upgrading of relations.  In addition, the round of talks with the UNIFIL commander in Lebanon, Spanish Major-General Alberto Asarta Cuevas, regarding the issue of Ghajar village will be discussed.

FM Liberman is expected to return to Israel on Friday, 23 April 2010.
