From an initial investigation it appears that two terrorists armed with Kalashnikov rifles and grenades, approached the IDF post in Nablus in order to infiltrate it and harm as many as possible of the IDF soldiers inside. Due to the deployment of the soldiers inside the post, the terrorists had to open fire toward the soldiers from outside the compound. The IDF officer and soldier were killed in the ensuing fire exchanges. The two terrorists were killed. The initial report indicates that the IDF force on the scene operated correctly and thus prevented an infiltration into the post and the further loss of lives.
