The Chief of the IDF General Staff, Lt. Gen. Shaul Mofaz, appointed today Brig. Gen. Gil Regev to Head of the Personnel Directorate, and awarded him the rank Major General.
Maj. Gen. Regev, who served until now as the Deputy Head of the Personnel Directorate, has been appointed to the post held until recently by Maj. Gen. Yehuda (Yudka) Segev, who will retire from the IDF after 42 years of service.

Maj. Gen. Gil Regev
Head of the Personnel Directorate
Born in the Moshav Herev-Lat in the Hefer Valley.
· Enlisted in the IDF in 1969
· Discharged from the IDF in 1976 and returned to serve in 1983.
· Served as a deputy commander and commander of a combat squadron in the Israel Air Force.
· Commanded the IAF base in Nevetim.
· Commanded the Unit for Cooperation
· Served as a head of the Personnel Wing in the IAF
· Deputy Head of the Personnel Directorate, and Head of the Individual Rights Directorate
Maj. Gen. Regev was a combat pilot (F-16) and was a combat soldier for 30 years, until this day.
He fought in the Yom Kippur War as a Phantom pilot. He downed two enemy aircraft, has thousands of hours of flying time and dozens of operations behind him.
Education: Holds a BA in Military Studies A.W.C. in Montgomery, Alabama, USA, and an Advanced Management (A.M.P) course in Harvard University.
Maj. Gen. Yehuda Segev
Director of Human Resources Branch
Maj. Gen. Segev was born in Romania in 1951 and immigrated to Israel that same year.
He enlisted into the IDF in 1969 and joined the Paratroopers Brigade. Maj. Gen. Segev served in a wide array of positions including: Personnel Management officer on all levels (battalion, brigade and division), as well as Personnel Management officer in the Central command. He also served as Head of the Human Resources Brigade in the General Staff Human Resources Branch. In 1998, Maj. Gen. Yehuda Segev was appointed Director of the Human Resources Branch of the General Staff and was promoted to the rank of Maj. Gen.
Maj. Gen. Segev holds a B.A. in social sciences from the Tel Aviv University.
He also has a Master’s degree in Political Science.
Maj. Gen. Segev is a graduate of the IDF Interarm Command and Staff College
He is also a graduate from a Brigade Commanders course.
Brig. Gen. Segev is a veteran of the Yom Kippur war and the Peace for Galilee war.
Brig. Gen. Segev is married and is a father to two boys.
Maj. Gen. Segev will retire from his service in the IDF.
