Infant lightly wounded by rocket shrapnel in Ashkelon; Iron Dome intercepts five Grad missiles

Since Wednesday night (August 24), around 20 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel.
In Ashkelon, an infant was lightly wounded by shrapnel when a rocket exploded in a populated area.
The Iron Dome batteries deployed in southern Israel intercepted five Grad missiles over Ashkelon and Be’er Sheva on Wednesday night.
In response to the rocket fire, IAF aircraft targeted a weapon storage site in northern Gaza and a smuggling tunnel and weapons manufacturing site in southern Gaza.
On Wednesday night, the IAF targeted two terrorist cells that fired rockets from northern Gaza into Israel.
Since last Thursday, more than 150 rockets and mortar shells have been fired from Gaza into Israel. Iron Dome batteries have intercepted around 20 rockets that would have landed in populated areas.
The IDF (Zahal) will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians, and will not hesitate to respond with strength and determination to any element that uses terror against Israel, until calm is restored.
The IDF (Zahal) holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for all terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip.
