Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz spoke today, Tuesday (March 13), with a nine-year-old boy, Itai Levy, from a community in southern Israel who wrote him a letter during the recent escalation in the Gaza Strip. Itai is one of 1,000,000 Israelis who live with continuous rocket fire attacks, especially during the last five days.

While on his way to a situation assessment held yesterday in the Southern Command, IDF (Zahal) Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yoav (Poly) Mordechai gave Lt. Gen. Gantz Itai’s letter sent to him through his official Facebook page. In the letter, Itai implores the Chief of Staff to act against terror organizations operating in the Gaza Strip. He writes, “I think the IDF (Zahal) is a very strong army and I hope the big commanders in Gaza will be scared to fire at us anymore rockets.”

After reading the letter, Lt. Gen. Gantz asked to personally speak with Itai and express his appreciation for the heartfelt letter.

IDF (Zahal) Spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Mordechai wrote today in his Facebook page: “Itai, your letter is honest and touching, and shows you are very brave. The IDF (Zahal) is a powerful military and over the past few days we targeted 22 terrorists who attempted to attack communities in the south, we will continue to take any measures necessary to defend Israeli civilians.”
