Brigadier General (res.) Aharon Davidi, a founder of the IDF (Zahal) Paratroopers Brigade, passed away on Saturday (February 11) at the age of 84.
Davidi was born in Tel Aviv in 1927. At the age of 14, he began to participate in Haganah activities. During the War of Independence, Davidi fought in the Palmach’s Negev Brigade.
In 1953, Davidi moved to the Paratroopers Brigade, where he remained for the rest of his military career.
Davidi led the reprisal operations carried out by the IDF (Zahal) in the 1950s in response to Arab terrorist attacks.
Davidi played important roles in both the 1956 Sinai Campaign and the 1967 Six-Day War.
Following his military career, Davidi served as a lecturer on Southeast Asian culture at Tel Aviv University.
