Brigadier General Udi Adam was appointed Head of the Technology and Logistics Branch today in the office of the Chief of Staff and was promoted to the rank of Major General. Maj. Gen. Adam replaces Maj. Gen. Aharon Ze’evi, who has been appointed as the Head of the Intelligence Branch, and will begin his new task in a few months.
Major General Aharon Ze’evi
Maj. Gen. Ze’evi was drafted into the IDF in 1966 to the IAF Pilots’ Course and transferred to IAF Intelligence Field Unit. He served in various command posts in the Intelligence Corps during the years 1976 – 1990, and commanded the central unit for warning and intelligence until 1993. During his service in the Intelligence Corps he participated in the Six-Day War, the Yom Kippur War, the War of Attrition and the Peace for Galilee War, as well as the Entebbe and other operations. Maj. Gen. Ze’evi went on to serve as assistant Chief, and later deputy Chief of the IDF’s General Staff Plan and Policy Directorate.
In 1998 Aharon Ze’evi was appointed Head of the IDF’s General Staff Technological and Logistics Directorate and was promoted to the rank of Maj. Gen. Maj. Gen. Ze’evi holds a bachelors degree in Middle East Affairs from Tel Aviv University and a masters degree in Middle East History from Tel Aviv University. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School, specializing in senior managing techniques, and speaks five languages, Hebrew, English, Arabic, Romanian and German. Maj. Gen. Ze’evi is a graduate of the IDF Brigade Commanders course, and Division Commanders course. He also attended courses in systems analysis, T.Q.M, negotiation management, changes in organizations, strategic planning, etc. Maj. Gen. Ze’evi received a citation for creative thinking in the field of warning and surprise from the Director of Military Intelligence. He is married and the father of three children.
Major General Udi Adam
Brig. Gen. Adam enlisted in 1976 in the Armored Corps, went through the full course of the Corps and served as a Platoon Commander, Company Commander, and Deputy Battalion Commander.
In 1985 he was appointed to Battalion Commander of (Armor Unit Training Battalion) of the Sinai Formation in Lebanon. Afterwards he was appointed Commander of the “Storm” Battalion, Commander of “Shelach” Battalion of the “Steel Tracks” Formation, and Commander of the “Bnei Or” Formation. During the Intifada, between 1987-89 he served as a General Staff Operations officer in the “Plada” Formation. Between 1989-91 he studied in the War School in Paris.
In 1991 he was appointed Commander of a Reserve Brigade and as commander of the Armor Center in the Training Base for Field Units.
In 1993 he was appointed Commander of the “Kfir” Formation.
In 1995 was appointed Commander of the “Bnei Or” Formation – Tank Commanders Course Brigade and Armor Officers Course.
In 1997 he was appointed Head of the Personnel Division in Army Headquarters.
In 1999 he was appointed to Commander of the “Plada” Formation.
Brig. Gen. Adam holds a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the university of Bar-Ilan, and an M.A. in Strategic Studies from the War School in Paris. Brig. Gen. Adam Lives in Yavne, is married, and a father of three
