Lt. Gen. Gantz participated in a military ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during his official visit to the U.S., days after receiving the Legion of Merit

Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz visited Arlington National Cemetery yesterday (Thursday, February 7), during his official visit to the U.S. There, he participated in a military ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and laid a wreath on behalf of the IDF (Zahal).
The Chief of Staff toured the memorial site and placed a stone engraved with the words “Nation shall not take up sword against nation, and they shall not learn war anymore.” Lt. Gen. Gantz also added a personal message: “Until then, let us stay strong and united,” referring to the strong ties between the IDF (Zahal) and the U.S. Armed Forces.
Earlier in the day, the Chief of Staff met with his Canadian counterpart, General (****) Tom Lawon, discussing the cooperation and between their respective militaries and the advancement of joint projects.
Yesterday marked the conclusion of Lt. Gen. Gantz’s week-long work visit to Washington, D.C., during which he met with government and defense officials and visited military bases. During the visit, he was hosted by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Armed Forces, General (****) Martin E. Dempsey, who on Tuesday awarded him the Legion of Merit on behalf of U.S. President Barack Obama.
