The Civil Administration arranged a three-day seminar for officials from the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture held in the city of Netanya between May 21 and 23.
Arriving from both Judea and Samaria and the Gaza Strip, 24 Palestinians, mostly agricultural engineers, attended the conference that focused on agricultural technologies, plant protection, and use of fertilizers. Israeli experts, professors and officials from the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture spoke at the conference.
“This workshop provides information about technologies that we use in Israel to protect and improve our crops in open-fields and green houses”, said Agriculture Department at the Civil Administration official, Mr. Ayman Assad.
The seminar is one of many Israeli-Palestinian workshops planned for 2012. “Through these workshops we are improving the interaction, cooperation and communication with the Palestinian Authority”, added Mr. Assad.
The Agriculture Department of the Civil Administration works with Palestinian farmers in the field to learn more about problems they encounter. Based on the information they gather the Ministry of Agriculture organizes seminars, lectures and training sessions in Israel to increase the quality and output of Palestinian crops, explained Mr. Shlomo Ekaïam from the Ministry.
