Defense Minister Ehud Barak visited an overlook of the city of Ramallah on Tuesday (January 17) and met with commanders from the sector.
Barak was accompanied on his visit by GOC Central Command Major General Avi Mizrahi, Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Major General Eitan Dangot and Judea and Samaria Brigade Commander Brigadier General Hagai Mordechai.
“The security situation today is good and excellent work is being done here,” Barak said. “We have nothing more important than protecting Israeli citizens, the communities [in Judea and Samaria] and the movement of Israelis here, along with ensuring quiet in the region,” Barak said.
Barak noted that the securing the communities in Judea and Samaria is made possible by the IDF (Zahal), Israel Security Agency, COGAT and Palestinian security forces.
“We are entering a period of uncertainty,” Barak stated.
Barak said that the Israeli government is attempting to advance the diplomatic process and that “it is our intention to operate in the field to give this process a chance.”
