IDF forces have completed the initial phase of IDF operations within the Jenin refugee camp and have completed taking control of the camp. During the operation 22 gunmen were killed and additional dozens were injured.
In a search conducted in several houses in the camp, many weapons were discovered, and a number of people wanted for interrogation were arrested by security forces.
With the conclusion of this phase, IDF forces departed and repositioned themselves on the outskirts of the city. The forces are located at positions controlling the surroundings of the refugee camp and are prepared to continue operations in the region.
It is important to note that IDF operations were carried out following the negligence of the Palestinian Authority and a complete lack of activity to rout out terror. The current terrorist infrastructure in the refugee camp is responsible for many terrorist attacks carried out against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.
The IDF will continue to operate against terror everywhere the Palestinian Authority does not.
