The IDF is testing candidates for military service for HIV who are new immigrants from countries in which the virus is endemic, and in other specific cases, after the notification and approval of the individual.
Emigrants from the Former Soviet Union have not been classified, by the Ministry of Health and the Medical Corps, as a group to be tested for HIV.
The Medical Corps mostly rests upon the advice of the Ministry of Health as for its policy. Yet it is important to emphasize that, as for HIV, the Ministry of Health does not advise and does not initiate research on any certain population. It leaves the decision to the patient.
